Graphite Drawing
Kids – A fun introduction to pencil drawing! Learn to sketch simple shapes, add shading, and bring creative ideas to life.
Teens – Build strong drawing skills with graphite! Explore shading, perspective, and texture for more realistic and expressive art.
-
Mechanical Pencil: This one is built really well and has an incredible eraser that lasts a long time and has great refills. We use mechanical pencils for sketching and ideas.
Pencil Set: The range of hardness in each pencil helps provide success with shading.
-
Soap Eraser: These are excellent for not smudging work or tearing paper
Kneaded Eraser: These are great when needing to remove a light upper or loose layer of graphite from work.
-
Blender Stumps: These are used to blend pencil. They are important to early success in shading.
-
You do not need both. If you prefer to keep work collected in a sketchbook, please use that. If you prefer framing art, please use loose paper.
Paper: This paper is heavyweight and designed for drawing on. It has a slight texture.
Sketchbook: Please use whatever sketchbook fits right for you. Please try to keep it to approximately 9×12 size. Consider if you want one that is spiral bound or hardbound? Do you want perforated lines on your pages to tear out? Feel the pages. I always recommend leaning on the thicker pages possible. Inks and watercolor like to be periodically tossed into some projects while experimenting and it is nice to have a paper that holds water well.
-
Micron Pens: These come in a TON of sizes. These 3 are my go-to. This brand has been around for a long time. They’re waterproof and bleed proof. Sometimes, it is preferable to do graphite work and finish the work in fine lining.
